A few details on the
Punte grew out of Ateluhm’s ambition to produce skateboard decks locally. In early 2013 the team launched Ateluhm with nothing more than a logo, a Facebook page and a contest, determined to show that high‑quality skateboards could be made in Romania. The name Punte plays on the Romanian word for “deck” and the phrase “pune‑te” (“put yourself”), symbolizing both the physical board and the invitation to join the culture.
From the start, Ateluhm treated each board as a canvas. The first collection was created with the comic‑book artists Birds of Paradise (Robert Obert, ), who even featured an Ateluhm deck on the back cover of their debut magazine. A second collection was drawn by the illustrator Serebe, with whom Ateluhm also produced installations. Two one‑off boards, one produced with an industrial laser (illustrated by George Nedelea) and another hand-carved was used as a prize at a rock‑paper‑scissors championship (illustrated by Robert Leonte). The third collection also featured Ioana Sopov, Calin Mihai Radu, Adrian Carciova and Paul Paun, among already meantioned artists. These collaborations underline Ateluhm’s mission to turn functional objects into works of art.
Each now Punte deck is designed and shaped in‑house using locally sourced wood. Craftsman and team refine the concave, cut the shape and apply the finish, ensuring that every board is skateable as well as beautiful. Custom graphics are applied by hand or via laser etching, depending on the artist’s selected medium. The goal has always been to show that Romanian‑made boards can stand alongside imports and to test production quality directly within the community.
